A few posts back I shared a journal page with a Shiva,a new stamp, designed by my sweet artist friend,Jessica Sporn. Jessica kindly asked me to demo a few of her stamps from her new line and today I have another piece that I have created using two of her other stamps!
Thanks so much Jessica for thinking of me- I love these stamps!!
Available at RubberMoon are Peacock Motif and Ornate Leaf as well as Jessica's other line of stamps.
Most times, my posts are step by step with photos, but times like this...I just get on a roll with color and paint and texture,Oh My! and well-forgot the photos!!
I do have a few to share-so here we go!
To begin, I gessoed my page and when that was dry,
I spread on the outside edges a layer of
At this point I took the Peacock Motif stamp and pressed the feather ends into the modeling paste.
~Hint #1~make sure you have a shallow dish of water to put your stamp in to remove excess paste as well as to soak in when finished.
~Hint#2~ I use a finger nail brush at the sink to get out any remaining modeling paste from my stamps
Next I pulled out a handful of my favorite DecoArt colors and just used the pads of my fingers to wipe on the paint.
After a few layered colors came stamping the Peacock Motif. I stamped with Delicata GoldenGlitz Ink,then, used the heat gun to dry this along.
After taping off parts of the stamp,I continued stamping the feathers out away from the body. Also stamped in a few Ornate Leaf stamps in between the feathers.
Next came the embossing powders-I love this stuff-gives great textural elements to a page!
Around the top of the Peacock I used Stampendous Shabby White and filled in the Peacock's head with Sky Blue. I do believe I used some Lindy's Morning Glory Azure on the ornate Leaves as well.
After that-layers and layers of paint in all shades of blues, some purple-which was toned back down,as well as golds and DecoArt Turquoise Interference.
As you can see, many colors later, all applied with my fingers, a magical page, which turned into an adventure.
Thank you so much for stopping in and do check out Jessica's stamps~she has a wonderful assortment to choose from!
I do love your visits as well as your comments!

You have created a magical bird. This is a bird of the birds! What kind of power your bird has?
You really can use stamps.

Ooh, I was thinking how you could get those stamps in trouble using them in modeling paste...and I was relieved that you noted to have a pan of water handy.(Just watching out for my friend.) ha ha
I could see this peacock on the side of a planter. Think with Spring here you should try some of your texture masterpieces on a flower pot. Your work would look cool on terra cotta. Hugs, Darlene
This is so beautiful Jackie! I love how you've built up those layers to create such a stunning stage for your peacock. Gorgeous! Thanks so much for joining us at Stamps and Stencils. Julia x
