Every Sari Journal needs a beautiful cover

Good Morning everyone!
Here I am with another Sari post for
In case you could not tell...I am in LOVE with Gwen's Irresistible India Embellished  Sari Scraps- just saying!
The base of my Journal contains a mix of beautiful papers from Gwen's assorted paper packs as well as some of her beautiful Irresistible India Washi tape!
Have you seen some of the tapes she carries? Gorgeous! oops...back to what I was saying...

After covering the front of the book with Gwen's papers and tapes, I added a couple of cutouts to either side. Saving the center as I knew I had something special for that space.

The cutouts are from Gwen's Downloadable Collages-the Irresistible India Collection

Next came  Gwen's Decorative Flower Stamen Medallion Stencil
Another new favorite stencil of mine! I just love this design Gwen!!!
It all started with some modeling paste and Magicals from Lindy's...a Flower Stamen Stencil in the center, and a few petals stenciled off the sides of the cover...but as you see here and in other photos to follow,it did not stop there-ohhh no!

I found this adorable little archway with opening doors in the Curated Mixed Media Stash Packs- the Jewelry Parts Pack from Gwen's store!
this just had to go in the center!
and the delicious color added to the stenciling?
    I'll come back to that...
I added this Gorgeousness piece of Irresistible India Embellished Sari Scrap in purple. Purple is my favorite color and I was just feeling it that day!
After adding it,I realized I had not a large selection of purple beads...after scouting around my studio-woo hoo! I remembered the beautiful Amethyst stones my Tribe Sister Linda Edkins Wyatt gifted me!
What a perfect way to trim up this Sari!

another cut out from Gwen's Downloadable Collages-the Irresistible India Collection

Now,onto a few pics of the colorful stenciling aka bead work I referred to earlier
Of course there needed to be bead work added!
I just never knew how long and tedious and how difficult it is one handed to do! heehee
But I did it! And again, another shout out to my Tribe Sister Linda for these fabulously beautiful beads!
So you might notice a bit of white-ishness in between the beads. I added an overall coating of 3-D Crystal Lacquer to hold the beads securely to the cover.
and finally another simply exquisite Irresistible India Embellished Sari Scrap
-in Purple. Such a beautiful way to finish the edging-don't you think?

What's inside the tiny doors you ask? You will have to wait till I return with the backside of the Journal to find out! Stay tuned!

Thanks so much for your visit! I hope you found my post inspiring and maybe you saw some products from Gwen's store, that you can't live without! heehe I always do!

So glad you came by and I will see you again, very soon!
Peace & Love
Jackie

True North...a Camping Adventure Journal

 hello everyone!
Just a quick visit this morn to say hello, show you a few photos of a WIP and let you know, I won't have internet for 2 weeks, from tomorrow, so I will catch up with you when it's back on!

Now onto my Camping Adventure Journal-True North (Lynne Perrella Stamp)

So, I found a couple of these ledger journals at a garage sale real cheap and I decided to use this one to start recording a few of our camping trips as well as adding a bit of nature.
Please forgive the shortness of this post as typing is just starting to come back and also, I created this journal awhile ago- so I might have forgotten a few things! ")

I first stenciled out some diamond shapes from CrafterWorkshopStencils Harlequin stencil. Then sprayed on some of Lindy's Starburst Shimmer Sprays.
The center piece was done separate and added to the top of the of the journal using heavy matte gel.
The stencil of the sun rays is by Memory Box and I used lightweight modeling paste with gold paint added to it.
The sea faring woman is one of my favorite stamps from Lynne Perrella! She is headed North as that is where our camping trips usually take us- up North!
The waves underneath her are again modeling paste through a stencil with a bit of Lindy's sprays added as I scraped the paste through the stencil.
For interest I added a bit of Ranger's Glossy Accents to a few places.

Next up is one of the spreads I created in my journal.
This is about the North Eastern Bluebird-New York State's official bird.

a fishing lure i found on the beach while camping. At all NewYorkState campgrounds, Bluebird nesting boxes have been put up to encourage their reproduction and return, as they were endangered here for awhile.

Oh Dear! I am afraid the Bluebird's diet is not just fruits and berries, but also mealworms and yummy flying bugs and butterflies(small ones of course) !

 Silly birds and their politeness....

The papers in the background are from the book Tangle Starts by Alice Hendon that I received from her generous giveaway! These pages are awesome for backgrounds in journals!
if any of you recall the cartoon series "Chip & Dale" , you will remember they were forever being overly polite to one another. That's where this bird chit chat comes from-lol
Thanks so much for your visit! I will be back around to visit in 2 weeks time when I again have internet!

My friends, you are the best! thanks so much for your constant love and support!
Peace & Love
Jackie

Guest post for A Vintage Journey~Learning to Fly

Hello again! I am here absolutely delighted and honored to be a
 Pinworthy Guest for
And I was thrilled to learn this month's challenge was music, picked by Alison Bomber!
I am a Huge music fan!
(so again due to my recent surgery, not much typing but loads of photos)
Grab your cuppa and look along!")

I started out using a piece of packing board from stickers I had purchased, nothing goes to waste! This became my substrate and it held up extremely well for the amount of layers of product I applied to it.

Learning to Fly,is the song I chose and  you may know there are two different songs with this title.
I chose the one written and sung by Pink Floyd, one of my all time favorite bands.
If you are not familiar with the song-

Again, going to my stash of "discarded materials"I used this frame that I scored from a "free" box at a garage sale,no picture or glass, but I knew one day I would find the perfect project for this!

coat of black gesso to start
some rubon's and layers of yummy textures

tissue paper music and yummy crackle

Butterflies...I just love them!
I typed out and printed some of the lyrics and aged the paper before attaching it.
I layered gesso, modeling paste, heavy body gel and loads of colors-all in the blue family, one color I do not usually use

I attached my substrate to the frame and continued to add more product and completed the backside as a bit of a shadowbox vignette, using the clear plastic sheet that came in the stickers pack as well.

Thank you so very much A Vintage Journey gang for considering my Mixed Media Tri-Perfecta piece Pinworthy and asking me to guest design!
It has been a delight and honor to do so!

Sari Journey Continues~Dreaming of What May Be...

Hi friends! back today with another Artist Tribe post!

Today the Sari Journey continues with a spread
 called
Dreaming of what May Be...

Again, less writing, lots of photos,I hope you enjoy your visit!

Started out with covering the page with some of the Batik fabric,my friend Jen sent me. I tore this into strips and applied with matte medium.

The flowers are cut from pieces of
After applying the flowers with matte medium,I painted them in with watered down acrylics.
Here I used a few saved teabags as well as these beautiful Fabulous Florals~Gold Skeleton Leaves from Gwen's store.
I used these to frame my young girl who is looking on her reflection, wondering about her future.
Also used are circles punched from
The circles and flowers are edged with embossing powders from Lindy's
I tore the edges of her photo and used Distress Vintage Photo to "age" the edges
This next page is of the young girl and what may be...
this left side looked too bare to me...

again, tearing the edges, adding Vintage Photo and then applying Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder on the edges of these graphics.
This HAS to be my favorite

both punched as flowers and also the background piece with the tiny butterflies

I felt the left side of the last page was too bare, so I made a flower out of leftover Irresistible India Embellished Sari Scraps~Pinks/Fuchsias and added it with matte medium
Seriously,if you have not checked out these Irresistible Sari Scraps, you really need to!
They are simply incredible!

what will her future bring?

So glad you were able to come by and visit again today!
I sure hope you found your visit inspiring and maybe it teases you on to create something yourself!
 Love & Peace
