Guest post for A Vintage Journey~Learning to Fly

Hello again! I am here absolutely delighted and honored to be a
 Pinworthy Guest for
And I was thrilled to learn this month's challenge was music, picked by Alison Bomber!
I am a Huge music fan!
(so again due to my recent surgery, not much typing but loads of photos)
Grab your cuppa and look along!")

I started out using a piece of packing board from stickers I had purchased, nothing goes to waste! This became my substrate and it held up extremely well for the amount of layers of product I applied to it.

Learning to Fly,is the song I chose and  you may know there are two different songs with this title.
I chose the one written and sung by Pink Floyd, one of my all time favorite bands.
If you are not familiar with the song-

Again, going to my stash of "discarded materials"I used this frame that I scored from a "free" box at a garage sale,no picture or glass, but I knew one day I would find the perfect project for this!

coat of black gesso to start
some rubon's and layers of yummy textures

tissue paper music and yummy crackle

Butterflies...I just love them!
I typed out and printed some of the lyrics and aged the paper before attaching it.
I layered gesso, modeling paste, heavy body gel and loads of colors-all in the blue family, one color I do not usually use

I attached my substrate to the frame and continued to add more product and completed the backside as a bit of a shadowbox vignette, using the clear plastic sheet that came in the stickers pack as well.

Thank you so very much A Vintage Journey gang for considering my Mixed Media Tri-Perfecta piece Pinworthy and asking me to guest design!
It has been a delight and honor to do so!
Jackie")

and Peace&Love

Holy smokeroonies, Jackie! I would have loved to have been a butterfly on your craft room wall when you made this! You have rocked the blue, the "rock" of Pink Floyd, the frame, the crackle, the texture, everything, all on this one AMAZING work of art! Without a doubt this is my favorite! Your crackle and enameled butterflies have totally blown me away! I think I just put a similar frame into the yard sale box. Brought one home from a sale yesterday, and as a promise to myself, purged 4 others in exchange. I think I overdid that trade, and may have to steal this one back :):) (enabler!) By the way, I was a huge PF fan in my younger days, and it was fun to watch part of the video. Brought back memories. Thank you so much for being our very special Guest Creative Guide at A Vintage Journey and for all your amazing hard work on this project. I know it couldn't have been easy for you in your recovery process. Sending hugs!

I am in AWE of this entry for several reasons, my love of Pink Floyd not the least of which. I love recycling, too, and your use of products that most would send to the recycling bin was genius. I love the idea that nothing goes to waste at your home, either. You put so much into this, including your beautiful photos. Of course, I simply adore the frame you got free, too. It's a wonderful and stunning completion to your lovely entry. And butterflies are always fun to use in art. Of course, there are so many layers, I was very, very impressed. It's a genuinely gorgeous piece, and one worthy of Pink Floyd's Learning to Fly.

BTW, thank you for visiting my blog, even when I've been so busy I was unable to visit back!!!

I just read about your operation and saw your video before it took place. It's nice to know you are on the road to recovery. I've heard that art heals, and I suspect it helped in your case!

Jackie!!! You used that frame in such a unique and perfect way! The whole thing is so beautiful. Love all the textures, patterns, dimensionality. And that blue! I'm not a devotee of blue, but think it works so well in this. Great piece!
