Today the Sari Journey continues with a spread
called
Dreaming of what May Be...
Again,less writing,lots of photos,I hope you enjoy your visit!
Started out with covering the page with some of the Batik fabric,my friend Jen sent me. I tore this into strips and applied with matte medium.
The flowers are cut from pieces of
After applying the flowers with matte medium,I painted them in with watered down acrylics.
Here I used a few saved teabags as well as these beautiful Fabulous Florals~Gold Skeleton Leaves from Gwen's store.
I used these to frame my young girl who is looking on her reflection,wondering about her future.
Also used are circles punched from
The circles and flowers are edged with embossing powders from Lindy's
I tore the edges of her photo and used Distress Vintage Photo to "age" the edges

this left side looked too bare to me...
again,tearing the edges,adding Vintage Photo and then applying Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder on the edges of these graphics.

both punched as flowers and also the background piece with the tiny butterflies
I felt the left side of the last page was too bare, so I made a flower out of leftover Irresistible India Embellished Sari Scraps~Pinks/Fuchsias and added it with matte medium
Seriously,if you have not checked out these Irresistible Sari Scraps,you really need to!
They are simply incredible!

Jackie, the gorgeous pages continue to accumulate... I am in love with those gold skeleton leaves, and atop the strips of batik fabric, everything evokes the perfect setting for the reflective girl. The following page shines agains the deep reflective mood of the first. I must agree, burnt copper leaves is amazing! I really am taken with this incredible Sari journey you have been leading us on! Having been away and on a blog break, I completely missed all that has been going on with you, I am so, so sorry!! I just spent the last half hour or so trailing back and watching the videos where you give updates on what has been happening, and all I can say is that I am so glad to hear (and see) that things are slowly starting to look up.... Your art is as amazing as ever, even more so, wow, these journal pages are just so incredible, - I wished I could touch them. The colour and lustre of those beautiful sari pieces are just so stunning! So glad to hear that you are fully into creating mode again, but don't overdo it!!! Wow, Jackie, this journal is so cool! I love the torn fabric cover and that lovely image of the girl looking at her reflection! The Sari blossom is my favorite bit inside, and I'm amazed you were able to make that and this entire album, given all you have been through!
Forgive my absence. I feel horrible that I haven't been a good blogging friend, and all this has happened since my last visit. Life if crazy right now, and it takes everything I have to do my required commenting, and an occasional 'fun' visit if someone happens to cross my path. It just so happens you were my lucky 'victim' of the day, so in my 'free' computer time, I got (I think) all caught up with what is going on with you. I just thought you were on another walkabout. I guess sleeping in that camper so much really took a tole on the old neck. Horrible to have neck and nerve pain; I speak from experience, so I have the greatest empathy for your current status. I'm soooo pleased the surgery was a success regarding the pain, and I pray it continues to help in the nerve damage department.
Your videos were a real treat, although the subject matter saddened me. It was great to finally 'meet' you, and you are indeed a real sweetie! You got guts, girl, to go in front of a video camera when you were at your worst in terms of pain. But you sure look better than me on my best day!
Well, that's it for me for today. I will certainly include you in my prayers for a full and speedy recovery. Sending hugs!
Simply beautiful pages - the depth of forest green is magical on the first spread - a really glorious way to create texture and detailing. The delicate images are magical, so subtle and evocative, and I just love the distressing of the ephemera with tearing and powders... Brilliant work - so happy to see you creating with such inspiration despite all you've been going through.

Before I forget: love your nail polish :-) I like how she's hidden in between the flowers and those strips of batik. It looks to me like she's in a forest somewhere. It looks kinda mysterious. Stunning pages, Jackie! I love the way you used the materials. I never would have thought of painting over the flowers, but it gives such a strong, beautiful effect. The batik strips are brilliant! Again, I would not have thought to use them this way. The sari scrap flower! So many wonderful details. So much fun. Absolutely delightful!
