January happenings

Much ado around our homestead as of late.
Busy as bees we are!
My wonderful husband Riley,decided I should have the "Best Art Barn" around!
with lots of space to play and inspiration everywhere!
 So...the barn contents had been packed up,shuffled around,stuffed here and there,
moved,once,twice,thrice,well you get it! building,painting,designing...ugh!

I'm exhausted just writing this!
 even Chum is exhausted!

How about a few progression photos
 where we started...
 hoarders trying to organize.
I joke about this all of the time,we have lightened the load dramatically since this beginning
 cleaned up enough to have art friends over.
even a new back door and window added to replace the heavy old barn doors.
 A Loft!
  Brilliant!!
 Store it up and out of the way!

 sorry Chum to steep for you!
 this window in the wall may come in handy!
 BTW,this was here when we moved in...
 upcycled fencing used here
 going for the industrial feel
 Even insulation and a new ceiling put up-by us!

Many of the materials used are repurposed.
from projects we built and took down,recycled items from Craig's List or items from our "Farmer stash" out back!
 beginning of a storage bin
 More on the Art Barn another post.Stay tuned!

 On to other fun news...I am a regular follower,admirer,in love her art,and,admittedly, have a girl crush on Tracy Verdugo! ")
The generous lady that Tracy is,she recently had a giveaway on her blog~and guess who won a spot in her Pattern,Color,Texture Mini Mojo class?!!!

 Yuppers!that's right~it was me!!I am so excited I can't stand it!Hip hip!!Thank you Tracy!
 If you are not familiar with Tracy,do take a minute and check out her blog and artwork~
She is inspirational and  amazing!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
And finally,a share of our 1st real snow this season
this was pre-Blizzard 2016
we had no snow during that storm,it missed us completely!
and when it all cleared...
 look! a snow mushroom!
 Thanks so much for your visit
you make my heart smile
with gladness!!
What fun to see your INCREDIBLE art barn Jackie. Wow. It's just SUPER... but sooo much work girl. Dear me!! It's worth it though - you will have years of great creativity in your new space. YEAH!!! And your snow pictures are lovely. This was such a fun post. Thanks bunches!! Hugs. j.
Oh, Jackie, and YOU made my heart smile, and my silly face, too! Oh, shoot someone just beat me to the first comment!
First off, I have to say the two of your do amazing work and I would like to have you come do a few things around here, too! I love the industrial feel and your loft storage is incredible...I'm drooling! My neighbor (had) a walk up like that in his garage, and I always was so envious. Oh, don't let me get started...I miss him so much! Sadly he passed away a couple of years ago, and his wife just sold the house in Oct. The new people torn everything apart. Gosh, I miss Frank! OK, so now I'm bawling! What an amazing man; I can't even imagine how much Marion misses him!
(sorry) Never has there been such a hole in my heart as the day Frank left this earth for Heaven.
Onto your post...You have worked miracles cleaning out your space, adding insulation (yeah!) and those crisp clean walls. I also adore the show off ledge. Oh, I want to come more than ever!
A big Whoop, whoop for being the winner! You are going to do some amazing things with that prize!
Big hugs to you!
PS Thanks for sharing "your share" of snow! My brother got his share, too, and got on his skis and went cross country skiing instead of his usual 10 mile daily run; in shorts in the middle of the storm and at 61 years of age. What a kook!
I love your space! It looks incredible and inspirational. There is such beautiful light within the area and as for Chum, what a beautiful doggie!
My space is a converted cupboard, with a sloping ceiling and no window, far from ideal but it is a designated space and for that I am grateful.
TFS.
You lucky girl! I've got Tracy's Paint Mojo book. I'm yearning to paint like that but it's a lot more difficult than it looks! LOVE your new art barn! Especially the coloured stairs! Your hubby is a saint! Lovely snowy scenery! Chum doesn't look very comfortable resting his head on that chair, but he doesn't seem to mind! He's probably chasing bunnies in doggy dreamland!
I loved this post. Hint: Do more of them. Hey, I have little tears in my eyes 'cause I miss you and I want to hang out at the art barn. The other tears were for joy that you two can remodel like that and for redoing a space that means so much to you. Tell Riley I am proud and absolutely impressed. (Can he come to my house?) I love the loft idea although you need two. One for storage and the other for cozy reading-nap nook. I need one for writing.
Wow, you have won a great prize from Tracy. Your snow photos are divine. heavenly. Hope you have food stocked. Hugs to you, Darlene
What a fabulous reno, Jackie - I'm so excited for you. All that incredible work will be worth it to have such a lovely space. Imagine being that organized (well, I can't really, but it's an awesome dream)! xo
Ooh Jackie, that artbarn!! Fantastic! Such a great idea to make an upstairs / loft, and the way you did those stairs is brilliant. Just the best place to make art, it's inspirational just seeing it! What a great husband you have! And congrats on winning Tracy's class! You will love it. I did a life workshop with her when I was still living in Australia and she's brilliant. Hope you show us what you make!
Congrats on winning the place on Tracey's class - I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time, and can't wait to see what you create as you learn.
What a great post Jackie!! I just love how your new work space is coming along and it's so fun to see all the different stages! Chum is just adorable, give him a hug for me! Love the wintery shots here, wow. We still have not a flake in sight here in Canada, I'm starting to feel a little left out. Got new boots this year and haven't even had a chance to use them. Sending warm hugs :)
Congrats on your prize win & the awesome art barn in progress! We took a pretty good hit from the blizzard of 2016 with about 18-20 inches and wow, what an awesome photo opportunity it was! Love how it looks....for a little while! ;) Noticed Chum probably got bored looking through the seed catalog (which we also have) and wishing for warmer weather so he decided to snooze instead. Cute doggie! Thanks for sharing it all!
