Art Is You Stamford Connecticut 2014

    Back from Art Is you - two weeks now- sorry it has taken me so long to post, but the last day I was there, I came down with a bad cold which over last week  turned into bronchitis. So hopefully on the mend, I have to share, a slew of photos and some of my thoughts and memories of Stamford,Connecticut Art Is You-2014...
           Grab and cuppa and sit tight- photos galore to follow!

                             Day 1 Wednesday
   After dropping Chum off at Cape Cod with my brother and sis in law's on Tuesday, Wednesday morn,we headed for our supposed to be 3 hour trip to Stamford....the traffic was surely a rival of Ca., Boston and NYC-
Connecticut from the road
Stamford-Main St- straight ahead!!
Arrived at destination!
 Six hours later and a bit discombobulated- we arrived at our hotel- The Sheraton- which was fabulous!
And packing?
 Hey, It was my first time here and I was here for 5 days!
and lets face it...
                            a girl can never have too  many art supplies!!

          The first evening Wednesday, I spent organizing my class supplies so I could just get up and  roll the next morn.

                              Day 2 Thursday

Thursday morning I met my online friend Kay Wallace in person at the breakfast buffet and we chatted it up as though we had known one another forever!   I won't mention the oatmeal incident though- ooops! teehee

                     YAY! excited to start our first class with Seth Apter!
 Our class was called I Witness- and we were the last class to take this with Seth as he retired it after us- lucky us!
Here,classmate and friend Kay, is deep in the creative process!
                 can't you just feel those creative cogs churning?!!
        Oh the new colors that I learned about from Seth- gorgeous!!   ...and we were the first to learn of and be able to purchase Seth's new line of stencils- The Urban Collection(inside and outside) available through StencilGirl!!
                                             Again, lucky us!!
 Seth truly is a wonderful teacher with quite a sense of humor- he had us all begin the class with the drawing of a pig...for the record, my pig's tail was squiggly and long! teeheehee
 The colors and mediums were all over the place in our classroom and the creative energy was high! Seth is a super teacher  with a most genuine personality and so very talented-if you ever get the chance- make sure to take a class with him!
                                      What a cast of talent!
   Here my friend,Seth and I just could not get the right pose together-
                                  so we just kept trying!
          Thank you Seth- A fabulous teacher, inspiration and class!

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure you are wondering where my pieces are...hold tight- I'll show them at the end of the week...being sick, I haven't even finished unpacking yet! ")
                                              Day 3 Friday
     Friday morning motivator with
 Ricë Freeman-Zachery
and Lisa Lichtenfels
       Lisa shared with us about her art and creativity and how her dolls speak to her and to help her create them-aka muse?
        You really should check out this link for Lisa- her dolls are utterly amazing!!
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

         and now to Friday's first class
 starring~ Jessica Sporn

                        quick hellos and...we dove right in-
                          task master that she is! teeheehee
 Jessica would demo and explain and leave us to our creative selves all the time meandering and offering support and encouragement to everyone! Jessica had so much to share!
                            Our class with Jessica  was called
                                         Sky's The Limit
                            gorgeous skyline created by Jessica
                    Here is my friend Kay Wallace again!
                  Lucky us to be in two classes together!!

                                     Hi Marjie Kemper!!!
You know a teacher is awesome when another awesome teacher/artist, Marjie, takes her class!!
 Everyone had their own color palette and design and the pieces were beautiful!

 This is only my beginning collage- nothing like I had envisioned ,but isn't that the way it happens?!
                     Jess and I sharing some friend photo time
              Our class photo, minus a few who scooted early- and Kay hiding on the side!
            A wonderful group of gals , all with beautiful canvases!
                           Thank you so much sweet Jessica!!!

                      DAY 3 - Friday Evening
                                   class with Kecia Deveney

For those of you who are not familiar with Kecia, she is a mixed media/assemblage artist who brings her love of vintage found treasures to the table of soldering to create beautiful and whimsical pieces of jewelry....
                    and that's just the beginning of her talent...
 check out Kecia's blog  Lemoncholy's flight of fancy  for more of her artistry!

                                Our class with Kecia was called
                                  Soldered Tintype Pendant
 I have to tell you that I had never soldered before and the amount of knowledge I learned in this 2 hour class was,well, wow! I felt very confident going up to use the iron and explore this medium,because of Kecia's direct and straight to the point teaching. - I look forward to purchasing my own equipment and exploring this avenue more!
 Guiding every step of the way- with Kecia expressing her favorite and most useful words...SLOW DOWN!

    Here Kecia is filling in my piece with resin- the final stage for the evening
                    Our photo op together and we called it a wrap!

                                 Thank you so much Kecia!!
                  You are an awesome teacher and brilliant artisan!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay gang...this is the end of photos for today...stop back tomorrow for the continuation...hopefully I'll have my stuff unpacked and some pieces or art to share from my classes!!
Such a pleasure to finally meet you in person Jackie. You are every bit as wonderful in person as you are online. Thanks for being a part of my workshop and joining in on the fun of AIY. Leaving sick is sometimes part of the experience...it usually means you worked your creative tail off (pun intended)!
